Mark is the founder of The Lighthouse Initiative — the first student-led nonprofit dedicated to democratizing the diverse art of moviemaking for students globally. Through this initiative, Mark is on a mission to inspire and empower students to express themselves through filmmaking and experience the joy and power of being heard. Mark is also the Founder and Festival Director at the Student World Impact Film Festival (SWIFF) — the premier student film festival that attracts submissions from 5,000+ aspiring filmmakers in 100+ countries every year. Cumulatively, The Lighthouse Initiative (TLI) has made an incredible impact on the global student filmmaker community. Aspiring filmmakers in all corners of the world — from the United States to Brazil, France, and Ethiopia — have accessed free educational resources from TLI’s website. With over 1 million total impressions across all platforms, nearly 65,000 website visits, and over 6,000 submissions to the Student World Impact Film Festival in the last year, The Lighthouse Initiative is serving as a beacon of light for up-and-coming filmmakers in 160 countries.
