About:

Xzy Dumabok is a student, freelance artist and independent filmmaker taking up Film Studies from the University of the Philippines Film Institute in Diliman, Quezon City. He has worked on different short films, concept videos and freelance art. His works revolve around narratives of going through life while tackling societal issues present and relevant in this day and age.His film ‘Ngayon at Kung’ won Best Production Design and Best Performance at the 2019 Black Beret held in UP Diliman. In November 2019, he was sent by UP Film Institute to Malaysia to represent the Philippines at the annual ASEAN Cinema Workshops presented by the Japan Foundation where they were mentored by different pillars in the field of sound, editing, cinematography and directing. His film ‘Ka Babae Mong Tao’ was the grand winner of CNN Philippines’ Reel Filipina 2021, bagging the Digital Shorts Competition Judges’ Choice and Digital Shorts Competition Kumunity’s Choice.His most recent film “That Night the Moon Shined” is part of the Philippines’ National Commision for Culture and the Arts’ Competitive Grants Program and is a finalist in the 34th CCP Gawad Alternatibo which won 2nd place for the short feature category.
